For this week’s action—collect—I decided to collect the dates of peoples’ deaths (1910-1920) from a specific circular area of the cemetery. In addition to finding the average age of people in the cemetery, I drew connections to different grave sites based on the year of death. Through this connection, I found that 1917 had the most deaths represented in this circle, which led me to other questions about what was happening in the city, making this area an archive of historical events, rather than just a gravesite.
